We started a pinterest project this evening, and it is one that I know I am going to {LOVE}!

Day 169
It was an eventful weekend filled with lots of great memories but I think my favorite was when we visited the Ohe's (who are my husbands aunt and uncle and a big part of our family!). Mary has an amazing front porch...isn't it gorgeous?

And tucked away inside one of her hanging flower baskets were these little guys...

This was a first for the kids, getting to see some itty bitty baby birds up close and personal...they were soo tiny!

Day 168
It was a perfect day for makin' mud pies!
Of course, Madi was the only one up for the task! Kind of funny that she LOVES mud and the boys, well, not so much.
She added sand 'sprinkles', grass 'frosting', and rock 'chocolate chips'.
So much FUN!
And then it was even more fun to chase mommy with her muddy self begging for a HUG!
What kind of a mom am I to run away from my dear, sweet little daughters hugs you say?!?...well, I guess the kind that didn't want to get MUDDY with a very expensive camera in hand.
I snapped away anyway ...we were both giggling so hard at this point I am suprised there was any running going on at all!
Nothin' like hosin' off in the cool water after practically taking a bath in MUD. We're makin' some memories!

Day 167
Lately, I have talked a lot about the website 'pinterest' on here.
It has given me a plethora of amazing ideas to pin and try out later.
But it is also helping me realize something else...
Childhood is fleeting.
My kids aren't going to be little like this much longer, in fact, I already feel little bits and pieces of this precious time together slipping away from me.
That is why moments like this one are priceless.

She really wanted to 'camp out' in the living room tonight and so I said 'sure, why not?'
Decked out in her tinkerbell tent along with her pillow and blankie (and an old crib mattress that we have yet to get rid of), she is all set for her night of 'camping'.
I love her and those silly brothers of hers more than anything.
I hope all three of them look back on their childhoods fondly, and remember the little moments like these!

Day 166
Look at my little man, all grown up checking out the tractors driving by with his hands shoved into his pockets.
I LOVE him!

I LOVE him!
Day 165
Picking wildflowers...
Seemed like such a great idea at the time....I mean why not when we got to spend time together (check), made our porch area pretty with bursts of color (check), but getting eating alive by SKEETERS, not soo great!

She picked these flowers for me, so sweet!

Day 164
Happy 4th of July!
I was actually sick today, so I am cheating and adding some photos of our celebration the night before..now you know.
I cheat (shh, don't tell!) on my photo project every once in awhile (although I desperately try HARD not to!)
I love this shot of Tanner standing next to the big guys as they helped him light his little fireworks. We were the mean parents who wouldn't let him light them off himself! (A little too scary!)

Day 163
I promised to show the finished product of our 4th of July t-shirts that we created the other day and all I can do is show one of them...I ended up getting sick on the 4th (this was taken the day before) and didn't get to participate in our annual activities.
So, there is no huge album of photos of our family (I am seriously bummed about that!) that I normally take every year on that day.
Tanner was pretty proud of his t-shirt.

Day 162
I know I have mentioned this before but I LOVE MY PORCH!
This morning, it was beautiful outside and I spent it curled up in my rocking chair reading a great book and drinking some yummy coffee.
Life is good.

Another reason to LOVE the porch....
When I see the way their eyes light up, I can't help but take a few shots...seriously, they are twinkling!

Day 161
A cool dude.
This is the fourth time that I photographed Mr. Nash and at the age of 9 months he has gotten to be full of so much personality!
I am excited to see him again in a few months for his BIG birthday!

Day 160
Ooof, it was a hot one today (and yes, you are only allowed to say ooof if you can claim some scandinavian heritage!)
The kids and I lubed up on sunblock and filled up two kiddie pools and proceeded to get the summer started!
In the back of my mind, I had all of these ideas of things I wanted to do.
The ideas came from pinterest of course!
I can't get enough of that site lately!
Here, in no certain order, are the pinterest inspired projects and games we tackled!

This game was a ton of fun for the kids (please ignore our gross rusty water...there are drawbacks to living in the country!). I blew up some balloons and put them in our kiddie pool (complete with a 'waterslide...we go all out around here ;) !!). The kids had to try and pop them without using their hands. So FUN!

And yes, my daughter is wearing plaid with paisley prints...it's how she rolls! I learned long ago to pick my battles and that is not one of them!

We also did our own 4th of July tshirts...it was a fun project but we were all very hot and tired at this point! It wasn't 10 minutes after this photo was shot and the little guy was asleep!

I'll have the 'after' photos on the 4th!

We also made some yummy fruit kabobs for a cool snack late in the afternoon.

They had a blast making patterns and picking out the fruits they wanted to use. I smiled b/c they were LOVING the FRUIT! Madi loves her some kiwi..you couldn't tell could you?

And last but certainly not least we painted a TON of pictures to hang up. Tanner, my school boy, created this...I hope he always feels this way!

Day 159
Dear 16 year old me,
The video at the bottom of this post, struck a chord with me when I first viewed it a month ago.
So I made an appointment with my dermatologist (who I try and see at least once a year, although this time I have to admit I was about 6 months late).
My appointment was today.

The whole thing was proceeding just fine, when she suddenly gave me a funny look and said, 'I don't like that one. No that's got to come off.'
My heart dropped.
Although I know that it is probably nothing to worry about, I can't help but think about the 'what ifs'.
I am sure that I will turn out just fine (I will get results on the ugly mole in about a week).
But I have to encourage all of you, to please watch this video and try to keep an eye on your body for odd spots, changing moles, ect.
Melanoma is a deadly cancer but is one that can be caught early because it begins on the outside of your body.
This blog post will be completely worth it to me if just one person hears me and takes my advice, you are worth it!

Day 158
I love Minnesota...
...especially in the summertime and on days like today!
The three stinkers and I were invited to play at a friends lake home, and boy, did we have F.U.N.!
We got to play in the sand on the beach,

and try out bright green alligator floaties...

But the best part of the day, was getting to ride on the boat..

and then getting asked if we wanted to try tubing (a first for the kids!). Tanner was slightly freaked out about it, can you tell?!

But he soon got over it and asked to go faster and faster!

Once her older brother got a ride, Madi decided that she was brave enough to give it a go, especially when her friend was going to be riding with!

She was all smiles!

The two little guys had a good time watching the waves created by the boat.

We had a fantastic day in the Minnesota sunshine! I LOVE living here!
