A 4H FUN Weekend.

Our new 4H club family had a fantastic, eventful weekend swimming and then sleeping over at a hotel and then skiing the next morning.

The little guy even tried out the slopes all by himself for the first time.

I did feel a little (ok, a lot) guilty about not strapping on a pair of skis myself to help him learn…

but in all honesty, the $60 price tag made me believe (hope like hell) that he could handle the bunny hill all by himself!

And handle it he did!

He tackled it like a pro!

What an awesome weekend!

Hometown Champs!

I can see it.

In the smiles on their faces.

The grit of determination in their eyes.

The confidence in their step as they walk out onto the court.

These girls are falling in love.

With every dribble,

steal,

pass,

and bucket swished through the hoop

they are creating memories to last a lifetime.

I'm so glad I get to be around for the ride.

Way to play like champions yesterday Pelican Rapids 4th Grade Lady Vikes!

We are so proud of you!

Just Try to Keep Up!

These ladies have come such a long way this year!

I know I am biased as a very proud and excited parent, but I have to say that I think they had their best tournament to date so far this morning in Twin Valley.

The girls might not agree with me since they ended the day losing to a good rival by 1 point in the championship game but they were fierce and mighty and worked their tails off!

They made me and all of their fans so proud!

Way to go girls!!

Oh, and how does that saying go again??

I think it's …

'you play like a girl..

and these girls reply with, 'oh ya, just TRY and KEEP UP!'

Oh, and as a side note…

it isn't easy to lose such a close game…

especially when it's to a rival team who you haven't lost to yet!

TEAMwork and Intelligence wins CHAMPIONSHIPS.

I heard a quote once that I think fits well with our 5th grade boys Viking basketball team….

"Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships."  - Michael Jordan

Every weekend during basketball season, these boys go out there and play their game while all of us parents and grandparents excitedly cheer them on.

There is one recurring theme that we witness game after game, tournament after tournament and that is teamwork.

They truly define the word.

I absolutely love to watch them look for the open man and pass the ball around the floor.

On the court, there is a certain trust among the boys and they just seem to 'click'.

If one boy is having an off game, there is always someone there to step in.

When I look at them, I honestly can't say that one or two kids are our 'superstars'.

I know I am not alone when I say that I am proud of them and the leaders they are becoming both on and off the court.

I'm so thankful that I get to be there, cheering them on!

I hope they always remember to stick together and have fun!
