Pacesetter 2016

Both Madi and Tanner's basketball teams participated in the Pacesetter region 6 basketball tournament for the first time yesterday.

It was another busy day of ballin'.

There was smiles, tears, and laughter in between the dribbling, passing, and shooting.

Both teams learned a lot and had a successful day in the gym.

The 5th grade boys took consolation champs and will participate in the state MIT tourney in June.

The 4th grade girls had a great showing and took 4th and went out on a good note for the year.

We are truly a basketball family and have had a great season, but I would be lying if I didn't say that I am kind of excited to move on to a new sport season…

one that involves the outdoors, fast pitches, tinging baseball bats and sunflower seeds…

I can't wait for baseball/ softball!

Spring makes us S.M.I.L.E.

Who's children are these?!

Anyone out there want to claim these two adorably crazy little stinkers?!

Anyone!?

I heard a knock at the front door this evening followed by a little voice squealing..

"MOM! Come here!"

Somehow, I just knew that this was going to be a moment when I'd want to have my camera so I grabbed it quick before I headed out to see what kind of shenanigans these two had gotten into this time.

They didn't disappoint.

Seriously, it takes a special kind of creative genius to decide to color your face with sidewalk chalk!

Apparently these two are pretty special and decided this was a fabulous idea!

Why not?!

All I could do was laugh

and remember

that this was their childhood,

they were having fun,

and having chalk on your face didn't really hurt anything…

right??

A few minutes after witnessing these colorfully fun moments…

I got to be there for a whole new level of farm kid fun…

goat races!

Watch out world…

Here come Billy,

Lily,

and Millie!

Happy Sunny Spring!

We are a crazy, happy bunch now that the sun is out and shining!

A night at the gym

Apparently we can't stay away from the gym for more than 24 hours…

This evening the kids begged me to take them to the gym.

It started out innocently enough…

a little shooting,

A little passing and serving...

And then these two crossed paths...

Volleyball versus basketball..

I knew this wouldn't end well.

Luckily, the fighting wasn't too bad and Tanner convinced her to play a game of around the world.

When your big brother has a leg up on you..

what else is a girl to do but

scream,

dance,

jump,

and basically use any and all means to get him to miss.

This smile says it all…

they were having FUN!

Together!

Miracles can happen!

Madi even proved that she can make a shot with a BIG guy in her face…

you go girl!

Mr. Serious decided that Madi's  tactics were something he should try…

this shot makes me giggle.

'What?!'

It got pretty competitive and Tanner ended up taking the win by beating her around the world 3x.

Fear not..

Madi and I had a victory of our own earlier and beat him at 1 on 2.

Apparently I still have some decent skills and can keep up with them..

I don't think that I'll be able to compete much longer!

The little guy insisted on shooting at his own hoop.

Look at that form!

It was our first Saturday in months when we didn't have to go to the gym…

And I'd gladly do it all over again!

D for determination

It was another Friday night in the gym…

watching our fourth grade volleyball players fall in love.

With every serve, bump, and set over the net,

you could see the look of determination in their eyes,

you could hear their excited squeals,

and the genuine encouragement for their teammates.

We're tired, but we're going to bed with smiles and I know at least one little girl who will be dreaming of a striped ball and a big net tonight.

Way to go ladies, I'm proud of you!
