Shada 2014

Another Shada 3 on 3 basketball tournament is in the books ...

These four little guys gave us quite the fun day in the gym!

Way to go Rapid Fire!

We are so proud!

I have said it before and I will say it again, these boys are a blast to watch (although they really like to give us LOTS of nail biting games and this tournament was no different!).

Here's a look back at a few moments from their day...

Somethin' 'Bout Small Town Basketball

I don't know what it is but there is just something about watching a scrappy little group of 8 and 9 year olds play ball that gets me excited!

I suppose it doesn't hurt that there is a certain big guy in our house who can be classified as a baller at the tender age of 9.

He loves this game and was completely in his element this morning having his buddies over to play in the shop.

Next weekend these four are participating for the second year in the Shada shootout tournament in town.

It's pretty obvious that the other three guys are 'ballers' as well, can you see those smiles and looks of pure determination on their faces in these photos?

They are tough competitors and I know they are going to have a blast competing next weekend!

Go Lightning, can't wait to cheer you on!

A Window to Our World

Although so far this summer we have been insanely busy running from one activity to the next, we are still finding lots of time to make memories!

Here is a small window into our world...

And for those of you who have been following the blog lately I wanted to update you on our bunny situation...

Sadly, two of the five babies passed away this evening.

We are sad, but all of us agree that the babies are better off being with Jesus in Heaven than suffering here on earth.

This afternoon we had all 5 of them drinking milk out of a syringe and we thought they might just have a chance at making it...we are pretty torn as to what to do with the 3 that remain.

For now, they seem fine and healthy and all 3 even took some more milk this evening, but after watching the other two succumb so suddenly it's hard to be hopeful.

As I have told the kids (mainly my little animal lover), all we can do now is pray and have faith that we are doing what God would want us to.

2014. The Summer of ANIMALS

Upon hearing Miss Madi's stories about all the animals she had found on the farm so far this summer, a friend of mine suggested at lunch today that Madi should write a book about her summer experiences.

I smiled and shrugged the suggestion off.

It was a great idea of course, but not one that could happen anytime soon since we are so busy with summer activities.

After this evenings events, I am currently reevaluating that decision and think that maybe she should write that book after all!

Tonight when I saw my girl sprinting to the house in the middle of feeding her calf I figured there was some sort of new drama that I would have to attend to.

When I heard her desperate cries of "MOM! COME QUICKLY!", I knew that this wasn't going to be a small, drama filled moment.

Her little face was squished up in complete anguish as I asked her, "what's up?"

You could tell immediately that she didn't care for my nonchalance.

"Mom!! You have to HELP me, NOW!"

This is what my girl had discovered in her calf's hutch on this lovely evening....

And seriously, she expected her city girl mama to crawl right into that calf's hutch and rescue these adorable babies before said calf could crush them like he did the mama...(as a side note, we are not sure what happened to the mama but she was laying on the straw by the babies clearly no longer of this world.)

We have quite the drama going on at our house this evening.

Little miss is praying hard for these poor babies to make it through the night and she is currently begging her dad and I to take them to the vet in the morning to see if anything can be done.

I see a future involving animals in this girls life...no doubt about that!

I'll keep you posted on the plight of these poor, adorable little babies, but for now will leave you with the words of Ty...

"We are animal rescuers at our house!"

Clearly there is no fretting about these sweeties on his part...he is all sorts of excited!

She, on the other hand, is so heartbroken about these babies...the poor girl wants to rescue ALL animals!

The look on her face breaks my heart.

Summer of Sports...Part 1

Little miss found a new love today...

Thanks to my good friend Heidi (who also happens to be PR's amazing head volleyball coach), Madi has already fallen in love with a new sport!

After her first day of camp she begged me to get her her very own volleyball.

I couldn't resist, this is the first time she has shown serious interest in a 'ball' sport (I think she is reluctant to fall in love with basketball because her big brother is a bit intimidating).

Thanks to her dad she now has a net to practice on along with her new ball.

We all had fun playing tonight!

Of course, she had to incorporate her first love into our practice session....this was the first time I have seen a volleyball player doing cartwheels and hand stands in between serves!

Summer gymnastics started tonight too...bring on the summer madness (I was busy playing 'chauffeur' all day today!)

We have a busy summer ahead of us ...hence the title of this post, I am anticipating a few more posts about sports!

Welcome to our world, it's crazy busy but I wouldn't have it any other way!
